The BACKHUS® A45 builds on the accessible, operator-friendly design of the A38 and steps up capacity for operations ready to handle larger windrows and higher throughput. With the same cabin comfort, intuitive controls, and fuel-efficient engineering, the A45 is a natural next step for composters looking to grow.
Powered by a Cummins B6 diesel engine producing 255 horsepower and EPA Tier V certified, the A45 processes up to 3,925 cubic yards per hour and handles windrows up to 14 feet 9 inches wide and 7 feet 7 inches tall. A 47-inch diameter drum with hydraulically reversible operation under load ensures thorough homogenization on every pass. The machine is available on tracks or wheels to suit your site conditions.
Compact enough to transport at 8 feet 5 inches wide and just over 10 feet tall, the A45 delivers mid-range capacity without sacrificing the ease of operation and maintainability that BACKHUS machines are known for.

TRACK CLEARERS/PLOWS
Operating independently of the frame and drum position, the clearers are very easily controlled to provide toe-to-toe windrow placement. The one-touch ‘float’ feature maintains constant contact with the pad.
ARMORED DRUM TOOLS
The drum tools are coated with an abrasion-resistant material for maximum tool life.
