Biosolids are nutrient-rich organic byproducts that are a result of the wastewater treatment process. When treated and processed properly, biosolids are a beneficial resource, containing plant nutrients and organic matter that can be recycled as a soil amendment like compost.
Farmers have been reusing biosolids for ages, reducing the need for chemical fertilizers, and decades of studies by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have shown that biosolids can be safely used to produce crops.
